Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to common questions you may have about the Learning Helpline as well as the registration and tutoring process. Please visit the Contact page if you have additional concerns.

How long are the tutoring sessions?

Our tutoring sessions are generally 40 minutes long, but they may run a bit shorter or longer depending on how many questions you come with. You can register for an additional session in the Exit Ticket and we can always schedule recurring tutoring sessions.

When do you offer tutoring?

We currently offer tutoring Monday-Friday from 7 AM to 9 PM. If those timings don't work for you, let us know on the registration form and we'll do our best to provide you with a tutoring session that fits your schedule.

What kind of help do you offer?

We can help out with anything from a specific assignment (although we won't do your homework for you) to explaining topics from class. So that we can make sure we help you as best as we can, please come with specific questions or a set of problems to talk about.

What if I can't make my session?

If you can't make your session for any reason, please let your tutor know with the emergency tutor contact information provided in your appointment email. We ask that you provide at least a 24-hour notice, but we understand that emergencies arise and are happy to work with you to schedule another session.

Who are your tutors?

Our tutors are all high school volunteers, many of whom are currently enrolled in or have taken Honors level and Advanced Placement classes. We make sure that every tutor has a depth of knowledge in the subject so they can provide the best help possible.

Can I volunteer to tutor?

We currently have a large team of tutors and aren't looking for more tutors at time. However, our team is always growing and we appreciate all the help we can get so check back later for more opportunities.
